Thermal ionization mass spectrometer (TIMS) LabS

1200 sq ft of class 100 clean rooms with separate work stations. All our low-blank chemistry is done in this labs. A sector 54 TIMS instrument is located in an acid-free lab. The instrument is used for Sr-Rb and Ra analyses currently.

MC-ICP and Q-ICP mass spectrometer Labs

We recently renovated additional lab space and installed two new inductively coupled mass spectrometers. The Thermo Neptune multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (MC-ICPMS) is a double-focusing high-resolution mass spectrometer. It has 9 Faraday one SEM and 5 channeltron detectors. The Faraday cups can be coupled to software switchable amplifiers with 10^10, 10^11 and 10^12 ohm resistors. The instrument is coupled to an Aridus II nebulizer. It is capable of measuring isotope ratios of most elements in the periodic table.

The second ICP is a Thermo X-series quadrupole mass spectrometer for major and trace element analysis.
